Melbourne Spring Fashion Week runway show 2 review
A much larger audience than the night before was seated to witness show 2 of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. Designers such as Gwendolyn, Thurley andArthur Galan AG were there to showcase their spring summer collections so naturally the show revolved around feminine cocktail dresses and floor length gowns. From the first sight of Alice Berdeu in a ruffled floor length Aurelio Costarella gown, it was clear this show was about to bring the drama.
Floor length dresses were littered throughout the show, from the long digital print dress at Lisa Ho to Akira’s white layered wedding dresses. There were however some modern elements, or more day-to-day wearable pieces placed in between the impressive sequinned Collette Dinnigan and body con Aurelio Costarella leather mini dresses.
Megan Park’s refreshing collection of light print on print layers stood out as a wearable range for summer. Yeojin Bae’s coral slim tailored pantsuit and mod shift dress also breathed fresh air into the predominantly cocktail wear show. Varying shades of Coral and blush were also popular hues of choice on the night.
Closing the show was local boutique Christine, who kept to the same relaxed vibe as Megan Park, with inspiring print clashes such as the first layered look worn by Alice involving an oversized plaid blazer. As each look progressed, despite the clothing keeping to a relaxed and flowing theme, sparkling statement jewellery and garish accessories and hats were added, over powering the soft muted tones of the clothing. Sometimes, even when it comes to drama, less is indeed more.
