My first memory of Cher was when watching an episode of the Nanny and Fran’s cousin appeared as Cher in drag. Following that, that terrible auto-tune hit she had in the nineties, then all of those scary outfits she wore to the oscars. At the time, she terrified me. But now that I’m older, I’ve been able to see her with fresh eyes. This weekend I watched Mermaids and The Witches of Eastwick and in both Cher is mesmerizing. Big round eye lids, thick eyebrows, pillowy lips, killer body, big dark hair, strong cheek bones – I just can’t get enough of her look. It’s strong and sexy and her voice just enhances her individuality. I also find her style in the sixties and seventies so inspiring too.
Its also interesting to note the smouldering similarities between her and Angelic Hudson. Both strong looking beauties who have often been considered for the same movie roles including The Witches and the Adams Family – Anjelica winning both of them. I guess Cher, no matter how great an actress she is, will always just be Cher, and for that I’ll always love her.
