Dallas Buyers Club

Lately, Dallas Buyers Club as been on my mind and in front of my eyes. That is, Dallas Buyers Club the movie, and the fashion movement. It seems everywhere I go and every instagram picture that pops up on my feed, I see a reference to the movie’s two main characters; Matthew MacConaughey’s memorable character Ron Woodroof and Jared Leto’s character Rayon. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you really need to. It’s an uncomfortable watch at times, but really is a rewarding story based on a true tale. That and also the incite into the world of rodeo cowboys and transsexuals in the south is fascinating.

Once you’ve seen the movie though, you’ll start to see the Dallas references around. It’s almost as if the movie’s two main characters were muses for the recent autumn winter shows. On one hand we have the white shirt, blue jeans, leather jacket, Stetson cowboy look of Ron Woodroof, as riffed upon at the Chanel show in Dallas a few months a go, and  further riffed on at Versace, Louie Vuitton and Tibi.

And then there was the fuzzy coat and coloured legs of Rayon, who could be seen in spirit at numerous shows really (fuzzy fur is the name of the game next year), but was very prominent in my mind when seeing Chloe, Alexander May and Gucci.
