Flashback Friday: Pucci & the Mediterranean
It’s like magic…. like something in the air
Can you feel it? I certainly can. I may not be fresh from the Isle of Capri, but I certainly feel that way after drooling over Erica Pelosini’s wedding images on the Coveteur, which to this day I think is the most beautiful, magical, most ‘me’ wedding, I think I’ve ever seen. And it all brings me back to Emilio Pucci’s incredible Spring Summer 2011 collection by Peter Dundas – who just so happens to have dressed the bronze bride on her super-wedding-weekend. Like you thought she actually purchased all that Pucci?
Could there be a more perfect collection for life in the Mediterranean? It’s those deep blues, the whites- just like Santorini in the sun. And the delicate lace, embroidery and ruffles – an astute homage to Italian textiles.
Splices of bronzed flesh beside bejewelled embroidery. The weather so hot, that zips and buttons are replaced with zig-zaging ties, so with a pull of a strap you’re ready to dive into the azure ocean. I might not have access to the Pucci archives, but that’s not going to stop me from recreating these looks next time I’m on the Amalfi – or just sitting in the sun in London. A change may be as good as a holiday, but I’d argue a Pucci dress is even better.
